Our Story

STEP was founded to ensure every young Indian is employable by 2047, by driving systemic transformation across India's skilling ecosystem.
India has 617 million workers and 12 million youth entering the labour force every year. Yet only 4% are formally trained - the lowest among major economies. Nearly half of those who are trained still cannot find quality jobs.
The problem is not a lack of institutions. India has ITIs, polytechnics, Sector Skill Councils, government schemes, and well-intentioned implementing organisations. The problem is that no single institution connects policy, implementation, and evidence.
STEP was built to be that institution - the missing middle between programmatic implementers and analytical consultants.
